Getting used to all of the changes in my world, i.e. moving from house to the apartment, having a serious arthritis flair and a new puppy has made settling in for summer rather surreal.  I am not used to living in an apartment, but am adjusting.  The fact the apartment is actually bigger than the house in square footage helps.  It is close to the bus stop, which was a necessity, and it is a very dog friendly place.  All of these things are very positive and I am SO thankful God put us here.  Still, all of the change is not helping me in the writing department.

It has been so difficult for me to sit down, stare at the computer screen and get words down on hardly anything.  A new project was begun, one I am almost excited about as “A Story of Emily Post” – more on this later – and the only way it is coming out is by writing it out by hand.  Cursive.  Typing that sucker in after a day of writing is actually exhausting.  I never thought there would ever be a need for me to have a typist, but apparently the time has arrived.  It must be done, though.  ALL the writing projects will get done….as long as I can keep Willie in the office and asleep.  When he is awake, I am heading into the living room or somewhere to check on him.  Carlos put a bell on his collar so when there is silence I know to go look for him and see what he has gotten into.  Then, of course, there must be play, and training throughout the day.

Willie Fu is actually adjusting nicely.  We are still working on the potty training.  He is 16 weeks old this week, so I can still forgive some accidents here and there.  Willie must stay in the crate when Carlos and I go to Church or out for a while because he can’t quite be trusted to not get into something that would harm him or one of the others.  Most recently he has discovered he has grown enough that, when he puts his paws in my lap and stands on his hind legs, he can actually see what is on the kitchen table.  Jumping into the bed without an all-out run isn’t working out so well:  Carlos has to boost his backside when he is trying to get into bed at night with us.

The only thing that is annoying with Willie is when Carlos comes home from work he has to show off for Daddy and then he gets too rambunctious and thus Carlos has to get onto him.  Through the day Willie is very good.  He learns his lessons and, even though it is a lot for him to remember, I am quite proud with how much he is learning and retaining.  As I said, when Carlos comes home or when Jake, the rotten boxer/lab mix of notoriety of this blog, comes to visit, Willie must PLAY!  There is someone new to play with!  Excitement!  EXCITEMENT!

I shouldn’t really complain any about writing or how any piece is coming out as long as it gets down and edited for submission somewhere.

The word came in about “A Story of Emily Post”:  The publisher said they would like to publish it, but since it has already appeared on my blog they don’t want to re-publish the earlier section.  I told them this was fine and that I would go on and put the rest of the story up on the blog here as I had originally intended.  The second project planned for Emily, however, has a favorable nod.  It is all one step at a time; one word at a time.

It is very quiet.  I should see where Willie is.

Found Willie……..
